The cause for this Rebecca is when the original painting job was being done, there was no Plasterboard Sealer applied to the substrate before topcoats where applied. Far too many ceilings have only top coat applied to bare substrate surfaces which eventually fail due to lack of adhesion over time, and if this occurs in a bathroom, the paint falls off faster due to water vapour on the ceiling, and that just adds weight to the paint surface which speeds up the paint to peeling off

I have noticed that our ceilings are flaking and the paint has gone back to Bare sheeting in many spots. What is the cause for this?
